It is often said that 'its all in a name' and creating a unique business name can often be one of the trickiest aspects of starting up a new business. Since starting my first therapy practice in 2005 my business names have included Healthy Holistics, Holistic Heaven and Tranquilessence all very lovely names but I knew that other therapists in the UK shared them with me. 

The inspiration for Zoh Therapy followed the tragic death of my younger sister Zoey in Novemeber 2008, at only 23 years of age she was killed in a road traffic accident. In the days following her death I wanted to do something in memory of my sister and that would keep her with me every day. I considered having a tattoo, possibly a symbol for friendship / sisters, and then I thought of having her name inscribed in Hebrew or Chinese lettering. Whilst researching this on the internet, I learnt that Zoey’s name had originated from Greek and that the Greek meaning for Zoe was LIFE. 

This seemed like a terrible case of irony to me that my beautiful sister had been so cruelly taken from my life, that she was dead, yet her name meant LIFE. 

I eventually came to the conclusion that a better way of remembering Zoey for me personally was to link her memory to my life’s work and the goals I am hoping to achieve over the next few years. As her name meant life, it brought forward a memory of when I was first trying to think of a name and web address, I had wanted to call the practice ‘LIFE THERAPY’, yet all the web url’s had been taken and it seemed a very popular name as well as slightly unoriginal. 

It occurred to me that the best way to remember my sister was name my business in memory of her, as I looked at the Greek lettering the letters appeared to look like Z O H.
